Sensory play has a huge amount of benefits for your little one! The main areas that it encourages development in are: fine motor skills, encouraging creativity, it also develops their cognitive growth and language development. On top of these already amazing benefits, sensory play also helps to increase your little one's ability to focus and heir attention to detail. And of course, the number one benefit of them is that getting your sensory box out give you the opportunity to be creative and fun with your child, giving you more opportunities for bonding!
To make one all you need are a few simple items:
- an A4 sized gift box - I went for one which had bright, high contrast colours, ours is red with white stars.
- mirrored sticky back paper- the one could be optional for you, but it makes a great liner for the box so that baby can interact with their reflection and get to know faces.
- light up spikey ball - these are a double whammy really! The texture of them is great for little hands to feel and the spikes make it a little tricky to pick up, which encourages their fine motor skills. Then of course, the lights often change colour which stimulate their eye development.
